Clinical intern
Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center (DARCC) is committed to engage and educate communities to prevent sexual violence and to support survivors and their loved ones as they heal and thrive. DARCC’s comprehensive program includes counseling, crisis intervention and advocacy for those whose lives have been affected by sexual violence. DARCC is also committed to social change through prevention, education and outreach programs to the community. We are looking for talented and passionate Clinical Interns to join our team. Clinical interns are accepted as space permits and are available only to students enrolled in a graduate counseling program. Responsibilities for Clinical Interns:
Must be able to commit to at least 8 continuous months with DARCC to minimize interruptions in client services
Intern at least 16 hours/week, in-office only, which may include some evening hours
Must complete DARCC’s Sexual Assault Advocate Training, which is a 40-hour training spanning multiple weeks
Must be covered under the insurance of their learning institution and/or provide their own liability insurance
Conduct intake and initial assessments of DARCC clients
Provide in-person and virtual counseling services to survivors of sexual violence ages 13+
Facilitate psychoeducational support groups for primary and/or secondary survivors of sexual violence
On a weekly basis, interns will meet for one-on-one supervision as well as engage in Clinical Team meetings for support
Expectation to maintain proper documentation and timely upkeep of case files
Participate in the organization and execution of outreach, awareness, and prevention events as needed
Other opportunities as designated to or suggested by the intern and approved by school and agency supervisor
Qualifications for Clinical Interns:
Must be enrolled in a graduate counseling program.
Ability work alongside a diverse group of employees and simultaneously work toward many company initiatives at once.
