Volunteer Intern

Overview 

Our internships are designed to provide educational and professional development opportunities, allowing interns to gain insight into their fields of study. 

DARCC is committed to the prevention of sexual violence and compassionately serving those impacted by it. DARCC’s comprehensive program includes counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy for those whose lives have been affected by sexual violence. DARCC is also committed to social change through prevention, education, and outreach programs to the community. The Volunteer Program Intern provides administrative, programmatic, and logistical support to the Volunteer Coordinator. 

The Volunteer Program Intern will provide critical support to DARCC’s Volunteer Coordinator by assisting with administrative, programmatic, and logistical tasks. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate volunteer records, supporting onboarding and training efforts, contributing to volunteer-centered projects, and helping ensure that the volunteer program operates smoothly in alignment with DARCC’s mission and values. 

 

Responsibilities for Volunteer Program Interns: 

• Attend and complete the 40-hour certified Sexual Assault Advocate Training Program. 

• Attend staff meetings when available, and weekly check-in's with Advocacy Volunteer Coordinator to discuss progress on goals set for the semester. 

• Support the Volunteer Coordinator with volunteer training tasks, including organizing evaluation and feedback forms from previous SAATP sessions, grading exams, and issuing certificates. 

• Assist with tracking volunteer and intern hours and gathering necessary information to complete timesheets 

• Develop organizational skills by checking Better Impact for submitted volunteer shifts; add/edit shifts in TeamUp; update RingCentral. 

• Prepare onboarding materials for incoming volunteers (e.g., Hospital Orientation packets, volunteer badges). 

• Complete a semester-long project focused on researching new strategies to enhance volunteer experience. 

• Learn about volunteer management by assisting the Volunteer Coordinator with administrative and programmatic tasks, including assembling handouts, sign-in sheets, and resource folders for affiliated hospitals, maintaining donation inventory, 

• Assist with volunteer appreciation and engagement events and participate in community volunteer activities. 

• Must believe in, support, and act in accordance with the agency’s mission statement and strategic goals. 

• Ability to maintain non-judgmental, accepting attitudes towards people of any race, religion, ethnicity, sexuality, age, appearance, or economic status. 

• Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications for Volunteer Program Interns: 

• Undergraduate or Graduate Student, social services-related field preferred, or comparable life experience. 

• Must demonstrate excellence with computers and other electronic devices and agency software needed to fulfill responsibilities. 

• Ability work alongside a diverse group of employees and simultaneously work toward many company initiatives at once.
