DARCC is proud to host our first Lunch & Learn of the new year, featuring Patricia B. Emmanuelli, Senior Manager of Community Health and Violence Prevention at Esperanza United. This session will explore the importance of culturally responsive engagement and meaningful support for Latine survivors of sexual violence.

About the Presentation

Beyond Translating Brochures” examines how community outreach, cultural understanding, and language justice work together to create effective and compassionate support for Latine survivors. Participants will gain practical guidance on working with diverse communities and ensuring equitable access to services.

Objectives

Participants will learn to:

  • Describe the critical role of community outreach in supporting Latine survivors of sexual violence

  • Identify ways to understand the customs and values of Latine populations in their community

  • Develop strategies to improve language access during forensic exams and other key interactions, including the use of certified interpreters and appropriate accompaniment
