Outreach Specialist (Bilingual English/Spanish)

FLSA Status: Exempt 

Salary Range: $40,000-$43,000 

 

 Position Overview  

The Outreach Specialist plays a vital role in expanding DARCC’s presence and visibility throughout the Dallas area. This role conducts outreach efforts, participates in community tabling events, and builds strong relationships with local organizations, cultural groups, and service providers to raise awareness about DARCC’s mission and services. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Outreach Coordination 

  • Represent DARCC at community events, resource fairs, health expos, and outreach opportunities. 

  • Maintain and manage a monthly calendar of outreach events and meetings. 

  • Coordinate and staff tabling events with engaging, culturally, and linguistically appropriate materials in English and Spanish. 

  • Provide accurate information about DARCC’s services and programming to diverse community members. 

  • Respond to community members or survivors making an outcry at events, by phone, or in person, as needed. 

  • Identify new outreach opportunities and community events that align with DARCC’s mission and target populations. 

  • Deliver informational materials and branded collateral to external groups, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and potential partners, as directed by the COO, CEO, or in collaboration with other DARCC departments.   

  • Nurture community partnership development by attending community meetings, tabling events, or presentations. 

  • Connect with and grow DARCC’s relationship with Spanish-speaking communities, leaders, and partner organizations. 

  • Understand when to transition partner relationships to the appropriate DARCC team member (e.g., development, education, or direct services) and transition information thoroughly and in a timely manner. 

 

Organizational Events and Awareness Initiatives 

  • Collaborate with events team, communications team, and others to coordinate DARCC’s annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) campaign, including: 

  • Turn Downtown Teal initiative 

  • City proclamations and community tabling 

  • Annual community breakfast and related programming 

  • Collaborate with the Director of Education and other departments on shared outreach and awareness initiatives. 

  • Support the development and distribution of branded swag and informational materials aligned with DARCC’s mission and values. 

  • Work with other departments to execute agency events. 

 

Data and Reporting 

  • Track data, document activities, and prepare monthly outreach reports. 

  • Maintain up-to-date records of community contacts in accordance with organizational procedures.  

  • Work closely with the COO to conduct outreach strategy, logistics, and follow-up. 

 

Other Duties and Organizational Participation 

  • When in the office, assist with answering the organization’s administrative phone line and assist with clients and walk-ins at the door.  

  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and supervision. 

  • Collaborate with other departments as needed to support education, prevention, and volunteer efforts. 

  • Complete administrative tasks and special projects as assigned by the COO. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (fluent in speaking, reading, and writing). 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse communities respectfully and effectively. 

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events. 

  • Commitment to DARCC’s mission and values, including cultural humility and survivor-centered practices. 

  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel within the Dallas area. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working with or within Spanish-speaking or Latine communities in Dallas. 

  • Event tabling or public speaking experience. 

  • Experience in community outreach, grassroots engagement, or nonprofit work. 

  • Familiarity with issues related to sexual violence, trauma-informed care, or victim advocacy. 

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands 

  • Combination of in-office, remote, and community-based work. Frequently works off-site at community events. 

  • Flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends. 

  • Requires frequent travel by car within the Dallas area. 

  • Must be able to transport outreach materials (up to 25 lbs).
